Kids Convention 2010

li_flier_jpg.jpg

With this being an important election year, Every Child Matters-LI 501 (c)(3) is planning a free Kids Convention.  This convention will provide the youth with a unique opportunity to have a caucus where their voices can be heard in a fun, yet serious environment. At the convention the public will be able to find out about community resources.  This convention will remind the our leaders why they should vote for smart policies that affect children.  In attendance will be youth delegates from Long Island, elected officials, the general public, various youth serving organizations, schools, notable speakers, and the press and media. This event will reinforce the notions of solidarity and community building in relation to the issues around children. If you are interested in making a difference and would like to attend this FREE convention click here to register yourself, your organization, a child, or to have a booth.

Become a Youth Delegate

delegate.pngWe need your help with giving the children a platform where their voice can be heard and their vision can be seen.  The responsibilities for the Delegates will be: taking the statistics that will be provided to them, and sharing it with their organization/neighborhood/club etc. Each delegate will make a difference in their community with ideas like, having a fundraiser, poll, or food drive. Ideas can be unique, but must be statistic related. They will also attend the convention and share with all how they handled the given statistic.  Please click here to sign up.

Self Sufficiency Report 2010

li_sufficiency.JPG
New York joins 36 states in calculating The Self-Sufficiency Standard to chart the actual cost of living and working in NY. The Standard measures the costs of housing, food, childcare, healthcare, transportation and taxes based on the number and ages of children in each household, where the family lives and assumes no assistance from relatives, friends or the government.
