Step Up for Kids Day

Every Child Matters organized a non-partisan event, "Step Up for Kids Day," to draw public attention to the issues affecting children throughout Michigan and the country, joining cities in all 50 states and Washington, DC to raise awareness during this day of action.

• 2 Year Olds Not Immunized (2006) - 30,890 (23.5%)
• Child Abuse Deaths (2000-2001) - 98
• 3-4 Year Olds Not Enrolled in a nursery school, pre-school, or pre-kindergarten education program (2006) - 144,214 (54.0%)
• % of 4th Graders Scoring below Basic Reading Levels (2007) - 34
