State Campaigns:

To Achieve our goal of winning new public investments in children, Every Child Matters collaborates with groups and individuals in states to highlight the needs of children and families, and advocate for the dollars that will address those needs. We educate candidates, office holders, the media, and the public about issues such as child poverty, early education and care, health, and safety by distributing information, coordiniating events, holding public and candidate forums, training groups in civc engagement, and organizing.

Since our inception in 2002, we have held campaigns in 13 states - AR, CO, IA, LA, ME, MN, MS, NH, NV, OH, SC, WA, and WV - as well as on Long Island, NY.

You are always welcome to attend an event or, better yet, volunteer for a couple hours, reach out to your neighbors, and help us organize.

Past Campaigns and National Events:

Children's Inaugural Ball
On January 18th, 2009, Every Child Matters hosted the first-ever Children's Inaugural Ball, a celebration to welcome America's 44th President, as well as the 111th Congress, and an opportunity to highlight the needs of our children and families in the midst of a very special moment in history.

This event brought together some 2,000 participants to enjoy family-friendly activities and entertainment and to view a special exhibit on the critical role past presidents have played in improving child well-being, titled "Presidents Helping Children."

Debate for Kids
We held public events with children and families before each of the four Presidential/VP debates to push a Kids' Agenda and ensure that moderators asked the candidates about children's issues in the debates.

Step Up for Kids Day
On September 16, 2008, people across the nation gathered on the capitol steps in nearly every state and Washington, DC to draw public attention to issues affecting America's children.  The events took the shape of public rallies and community forums, drew crowds and media attention, and made a mark in the election campaign.
