Arizona Cuts Services for Kids and Taxes! What's up with that? E-mail

Arizona’s kids’ organizations are speaking out against a budget that would leave 25,000 children and 9,000 parents without health insurance. Further, it would slash services for kids with disabilities and shelter for victims of domestic violence and at the same time cut taxes by $250 million! Timothy Schmaltz with the Protecting Arizona’s Families Coalition rightly asks, "’Where is the compassion in that in the middle of a recession?’" The Children’s Action Alliance’s Dana Naimark calls upon the legislature to “go back to work and use brain power, compassion and courage to pass a ‘fair’ budget.” To read the article, click here.

Children’s organizations must be in the vanguard when it comes to protecting the rights of a group of Americans that cannot protect itself—our children. While most of us are prohibited from electioneering, we are not prohibited from calling public attention to the issues, educating the public on the issues, holding public forums, holding rallies, and generally making sure all of our children have the services and supports they need to become productive citizens.
