L.A. County seeks to improve communications and protect children |

According to an article in the LA Times this week, officials in Los Angeles County have proposed a new data sharing system meant to improve communications between local child welfare agencies. It has been discovered that communication breakdowns among various agencies played a key role in child abuse deaths that had been investigated by child welfare officials. The proposal calls for an interlinked computer system that would expand the ability of child abuse investigators to access records showing a family's criminal, educational and medical histories, including critical clues about dangers faced by children.
