Senate Amendment means to improve Native American oral health E-mail
Joined by the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors, the Children’s Dental Health Project, Oral Health America, Pew Children’s Dental Campaign, The First Five Years Fund, and Voices for America’s Children, we've just signed on to a letter directed to Senator Franken, thanking him for his leadership in introducing an amendment to S. 1790. This bill means to amend the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, regarding dental health aide therapists, because according to the Indian Health Service surveys:
  • 1/3 of schoolchildren report missing school because of dental pain;
  • 25 percent of schoolchildren avoid laughing or smiling due to poor oral health;
  • 20 percent of schoolchildren avoid meeting other people because of the way their teeth look.

You can thank Senator Franken yourselves today by calling the capitol switchboard at 1-800-828-0498 and asking to be connected to his office.
