Why do a Step Up for Kids Week?

Because millions of American children live in poverty, millions are alone every day after school, millions are without health insurance, millions have no early learning opportunities and millions are abused and neglected. Because the U.S. ranks 20th in child well-being among 21 rich democracies. Because federal spending on children is declining sharply as a percentage of the federal budget.

Every Child Matters is proud to anounce that we currently have 40 states planning Step Up for Kids Week events for the week of October 5-9. Our goal - to have an event in every state is close at hand - with leads still needed in the following states:

  • Arizona
  • Delaware
  • Idaho
  • Nebraska
  • New Mexico
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Washington
Every Child Matters is offering materials and support for all of the Step Up for Kids Week events in the states.  If you'd like to participate, please click here. For more information on Step Up for Kids Week, click here.
