The Step Up for Kids rally is gaining momentum. We are lining great political and community leaders, organizing fun events for the kids, and gathering shoes for a display. All candidates for state and federal offices have been invited to attend, and Senate candidates Secretary Mike Johanns, Scott Kleeb, and Steven Larrick are confirmed.

Children's shoes are being collected throughout the state for the visual representation of stepping up for kids. You can help with this by donating shoes at various locations or bringin them to the rally. All shoes will be donated to The Center for People in Need in Lincoln.

The rally will be moderated by Dr. William Austin from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Other confirmed speakers include Dr. Tom Tonniges, Director of Boys Town Pediatrics to talk about children's health issues and Nebraska state Senator DiAnna Schimik to talk about the role of the legislature in children's issues.  

Arts and craft activities for children will be run by students from the University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Social Work.  This event should prove to be a great educational event for candidates, the public, children and youth.
