Join us in Concord on Friday, March 19th for "2010 and Beyond: The Fiscal Impact of State and Federal Programs on New Hampshire's Children and Families." Without New Hampshire's ability to maximize Federal investments, our children will be required to pay a substantial price in lost opportunities to address a problem they did nothing to create.
 
Hard times ahead for human services: Need (and budget shortfall) growing E-mail
The state Department of Health and Human Services is making changes, and people won't be happy. So says commissioner Nick Toumpas, who has been monitoring the department's budget and its spending.
 
Kids Voting in Manchester E-mail
CONCORD, NH: Students in Manchester participated in the municipal elections on Tuesday, November 3rd, casting their vote for the next Mayor of the Queen City. Kids Voting New Hampshire (NH) is a civic education program of The Political Library. Kids Voting NH volunteers collected 512 student ballots with the following percentage of votes reported:
 
New Hampshire Steps up for Kids E-mail
On October 5th, 2009 Every Child Matters, held the Second Annual Step Up for Kids Day. In attendance were many local representatives such as Representative Tony Matarazzo, Senator Maggie Hassan as well as representatives from Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Congressman Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porters offices. The speakers all discussed the importance of maintaining the various state and federal programs that benefit children and families in NH. But the most moving speaker was a young woman, 17 year old Saralyn Marquis, a National Honor Society student and class president, who spoke of being in and out of the NH Foster Care system since the age of 3.
 
Local agencies get grants in the fight against child abuse E-mail
The New Hampshire Children's Trust Fund (NHCTF) with the board of trustees announces the award of $202,692 in grants to 18 New Hampshire-based non-profits for primary prevention services for children and families, particularly those designed to prevent child abuse and neglect.
