Coming from all over the New England region to see Senators Obama and Clinton, Unity, New Hampshire became the not-so-quiet town it usually is. With crowds lining up to ride the shuttles to the little town with a population of just over 2,500, it was the biggest event to happen in NH in a long while.

People line up for shuttle busesAt the event, we were fortunate enough to sit right behind the Senators on the stage, and CNN cameras caught us on national TV, as Mr. Obama and his former rival spoke to the cheering crowd. People waited for hours to catch shuttle buses to the town to see the two Democrats, who were opposing candidates for many months, come together and bring their issues to the forefront of Obama’s race for the Presidency.

Two volunteers and I rode the shuttle bus and were able to talk to people while wearing our “I’m voting for Kids” shirts. We let them know why kids need to be a national priority in the Presidential campaign.

Hitting the lines and stickering people with our “I’m voting for Kids” stickers, we were able to get a good amount distributed and survive the heat of the midday sun. There was a huge crowd, and we saw a lot of people with our stickers, proving that the work we did on the shuttle bus lines a few hours earlier had been successful!

ECM staffThe event itself was truly electric. Senator Obama let the crowd know that children’s issues are a priority. Obama and Clinton both said that the care of children would be addressed in a new administration, as well as ensuring that health care would be accessible for all--important issues facing our children in NH and the nation.
