Long Island Children's Museum Event '08

LICM_Event1

This Town Hall Meeting at the Long Island Children’s Museum on Tuesday, October 14 was to highlight the Every Child Matters national and Long Island campaign, and draw attention to the children’s hands and voter pledge cards. The hands and voter pledge cards represented the voice of our children and the adults who focused their attention to issues and policies that affect children, youth and families. A prestigious national panel and an audience of local experts addressed the issues of “Putting Children on the Political Agenda”. The speakers stressed the importance of making children a local, state and national priority. This event served as a call to action to all in attendance – let’s stop saying we are going to do something for children, and work to make those demands a reality. It reinforced the notions of solidarity and community building in relation to children’s issues.
